ABOUT US A Christian rock band from Central Illinois, Day 40 has been writing songs and performing for church events, youth events, festivals and the like, since 2004. Their two goals have always been to: 1. Reach the lost and spread the Gospel of Christ; 2. To srengthen the faith of those who already believe and to show them there is hope when they are in times of trial (which is where the name "Day 40" came from, by the way...you'll see that below). Day 40 loves to lead worship. We particularly enjoy leading youth events - we love to see their energy, their passion for God. We come from a variety of churches....Catholic, Lutheran, and non-denominational....we've stayed together for 7 years now - proof that believers of different denominations can get along and further the Kingdom! It is our hope that our music touches you and strengthens your faith. And if you're not yet a believer in Christ, we strongly encourage you to seek Him out....find a bible-based church where you can learn about Him and connect with others who are genuine about their love for Him. There is not a perfect church out there, just like there's no perfect people, but going to church will be something that builds your faith, and will make you stronger without a doubt. Please open your heart and give it a try....Give God a try....He's been waiting....
DAY 40? You might be asking yourself, "What does Day 40 stand for? The number "40" is repeatedly used in the Bible, and is often understood as the "number of probation or trial." Moses was on the mount for 40 days (Exodus 24:18). Jesus was tempted for 40 days (Matthew 4:2). Day 40 doesn't just want to reach non-Christians, but we want to also reach beginning Christians. From experience we know how easy it can be to fall away from Christ. To a beginning Christian, it can be so great to discover that we have a God who loves us. It is easy to be overwhelmed with the notion that His love is un-ending and forever. However, in our beginning walk with Christ, unless we read His word, we can find out the hard way that life as a Christian is not without it's hard times. A Christian life is not without pain & suffering. When a beginning Christian is faced with his/her first trial - a job loss, a divorce, a death in the family, etc..., it is very easy to blame God and to fall away from Him. Day 40 is here to say "Don't fall away....STAND FIRM in your faith!" Our awesome God is in TOTAL CONTROL of your situation and cares for you. His ways are not "mysterious...." as some people say. His ways are just "higher" than our ways. God is a million, a trillion times smarter and wiser than any brain surgeon. And just like we can't expect to understand brain surgeons, how can we expect to understand everything God does? In every 40-day or 40-year trial in the bible, people had to endure hardship, pain, temptation, and all sorts of pressure. But guess what happens on the 40th day? If your faith is in Jesus Christ, guess what happens in the end? Suffering is wiped away. You become stronger in your faith. Jesus conquers all evil. There are a lot of things that can bring us down in this world, but there is nothing, and we repeat - NOTHING - that can overcome the power and love of Jesus. His dying on the cross for our sins is a gift to us - and a sure sign that no matter how many days we face in hardship, they will not and cannot last forever. Jesus will have the last word on our behalf. |
