Kevin Wortman - Drums

Gear: I use a Mapex Pro M series 6 piece maple studio set in caramel fade with fusion toms sizes (10,12,14, and 16). I use the Aquarian Super Kick II setup on my bass drum and an evans genera dry batter head for my snare. All toms have single ply, clear heads. My pedal is a DW 7002 double pedal. The cymbal setup I use is 14” XS rock hats, 8” AA and 6” A series splash’s, 16” XS rock, 16” A Custom, and 18” A Custom crashes, 20” XS rock ride, and to top it all
off, my 16” Sabian Pro series china. Toms are tuned in 8ths with moongel dampeners. Vic Firth 797 series sticks.

Describe yourself in 5 words or less: Focused, Ambitious, Honest, Playful, Hopeful

Favorite verse in Scripture and why: I’m going to modify this one a little bit and say that my favorite is the story of job (Hey! We have a song about that too!). Has been since I was a kid for many reasons. I really like the message that this book
sends to us about perserverance and pressure from the world. Everyday we are going to face challenges and life can come down like a 10lb hammer sometimes but in the end we must rest assured that everything happens for a reason and that it is already
planned out for us to be fulfilled ten fold.

Past and current roles in the church: I definantely grew up in church. There isn’t a Sunday I can’t remember where I wasn’t there as a child. In the past I didn’t have too many roles in the church until I started playing the drums for the contemporary worship service. I’ve been playing now for over 5 years and continue to play until life takes me somewhere I can’t. I try to be involved in the youth as much as
possible and try to be their voice for committees and getting messages out. I also try to be someone they can come to to talk about life and situations that I can very easily relate to.

What does having “caffeinated faith” mean to you? Caffeinated Faith to me means an energetic love for christ. Just as caffeine from coffee gets people awake, alert,
and focused, as well as jumpy, fueled for the day, faith should do the same for us as christians. When someone like the J-man has your back.. it’s hard to sit still!

What's been the most exciting thing that's happened in the past couple years?
Getting the chance to play with some of the best musicians I know! The band in itself has been a serious blessing to be able to play for God and lead people in worship. The trip to nashville was an amazing time too. It was good for us as a band and I think that it’s going to open some doors for us in the near future.

What artist(s) would you love to open for some day? Jars of Clay, Leeland, or Switchfoot

What is the most embarrassing song or album on your iPod/mp3 player? Mmm Bop? Just kidding.. probably Josh Groban but that man has some serious skillz.

Who is one of your all-time favorite TV or movie characters and why? Edward Norton, Matt Damon, and Mark Wahlberg. Edward Norton is the man hands down. Matt Damon.. The Bourne and Ocean series are some of my favorites. Shooter and the Italian Job are some “must-see” movies.

What is your favorite breakfast cereal? Cinnamon Toast Crunch! My belly likes them..

What do you order when the SUV stops at McDonald's? 3 double cheeseburgers minus onion, med fry, 2 apple pies, med dr. p. Don’t think I can? Just watch me lol.

Tell us a little-known fact about yourself. I am, in fact, inspector gadget.. nah but I’m a welder by trade if that’s a shock to anyone haha.
